<p><i>It can be argued that <strong><a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=bjork" target="_blank">Bjork</a></strong> hit her artistic peak on <strong>The Sugarcubes</strong>' debut album.</i> Yeah, <em><a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=bjork+debut" target="_blank">Debut</a></em>, <em><a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=bjork+post" target="_blank">Post</a></em>, <em><a href="bjork%20Homogenic" target="_blank">Homogenic</a></em>, all pretty incredible... however, can you find a moment in that triplet half as unique and emotive as "Birthday?" The growling pixie chorus became her indelible stamp when this album <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xkkg5u_the-sugarcubes-birthday-snl-1988_music" target="_blank">dropped back in 1988</a>. So many incredible Bjork moments throughout the album (interspersed amongst protagonist <strong>Einar</strong>'s Ice-jabbings), her pure emotion breaks through like machine gun bullets cutting through Bangkok smog.
