<p class="p1"><i>I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It is the second album from English rock band </i><a href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?&q=the%201975&filter=Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22The%201975%22"><b><i>The 1975</i></b></a>. Critics and fans alike adored the record upon its release in 2016, with singles such as “Love Me”, “Ugh!” and “Somebody Else” topping global streaming charts. The band claims <a href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=d%27angelo" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><b>D’Angelo</b></a>, <a href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=my+bloody+valentine" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><b>My Bloody Valentine</b></a>, <a href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=boards+of+canada" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><b>Boards of Canada</b></a> and <a href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=Sigur+Ros" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><b>Sigur Ros</b></a> (among others) as inspiration for the album’s seventeen tracks, and this eclecticism is immediately apparent. “She’s American” starts with muted electronics pushed aside by glittering percussion, frontman <b>Matt Healy</b>’s filtered vocals leaving ample room for funk guitars and a fade-to-black breakdown. “A Change Of Heart” is a lightly melodramatic tugs on the heartstrings, a synth-driven ballad that deserves to be in the New Wave pantheon alongside tunes like <a href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=erasure" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Erasure</strong></a>'s "A Little Respect" and <a href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=tears+for+fears" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Tears For Fears</strong></a> "Mad World". “The Sound” is urgent, jittery electronics, gang vocals, and pounding piano stabs. This album is pressed on double crystal clear vinyl and is packaged in a gatefold sleeve, includes full lyrics printed on the inners.</p> <ul> <li>double crystal clear vinyl pressing</li> <li>gatefold sleeve</li> <li>limited edition</li> <li>music label: Polydor 2019</li> </ul> <h6>reviewed by THE 1987 09/2019</h6>
