<p><i>Debut studio album from Long Beach's Sublime.</i> <i>40oz. To Freedom</i> was originally recorded in between 1991 and 1992 in secrecy at the studios in CSUDH. They would record at night when no one was supposed to be there. The band drew inspiration from reggae and hip hop, as well as their punk rock roots. There are covers of <a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=Bad+Religion" title="Bad Religion" target="_blank"><strong>Bad Religion</strong></a>, <a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=Toots+%26+the+Maytals" title="Toots & the Maytals" target="_blank"><strong>Toots & the Maytals</strong></a>, <a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=Grateful+Dead" title="Grateful Dead" target="_blank"><strong>Grateful Dead</strong></a>, and the <a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=Descendents" title="Descendents" target="_blank"><strong>Descendents</strong></a>, as well as lyrical references to the <a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=Beastie+Boys" title="Beastie Boys" target="_blank"><strong>Beastie Boys</strong></a>, <a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=Bob+Marley" title="Bob Marley" target="_blank"><strong>Bob Marley</strong></a>, and <a href="http://www.turntablelab.com/search?q=The+Specials" title="The Specials" target="_blank"><strong>The Specials</strong></a>. Although the album did not find immediate commercial success, it would go on to become one of the highest selling independently released albums of all time. Includes the songs: "Smoke Two Joints," "Badfish," "Date Rape," and "Rivers of Babylon." Twenty-one tracks in all.
