Terry Date, the producer behind <i>Louder Than Love</i>, worked on the LP. <i>Badmotorfinger</i> is noted for its cerebral quality, all the while the band maintains it's heavy metal sound heard in previous projects, and Soundgarden experiments with alternative tunings and irregular time signatures throughout the 12-tracker. The songwriting is vague, and it is meant to conjure up different kinds of images.
