Scientist & Prince Jammy: Scientist And Jammy Strike Back! (Colored Vinyl) Vinyl LP
$29.95
<p><i>A reissue of this spaced out holy grail dub session might be the silver lining</i> in this terrible <em>Star Wars</em> reboot we’re currently being dragged through with no end in sight (don’t @ me). The cover alone should be a good enough excuse for any dub nerd OR Star Wars nerd, but if not, there's heavy bass and drum <strong>Roots Radics</strong> rollage and vocals by <strong>Linval Thompson</strong>, <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=Barrington+Levy" target="_blank"><strong>Barrington Levy</strong></a>, <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=Freddie+McGregor" target="_blank"><strong>Freddie McGregor</strong></a> and more mixed up by <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=King+Tubby" target="_blank"><strong>King Tubby</strong></a>’s most notorious proteges inna galaxy far far away. When <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?&q=Scientist&filter=Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Barrington%20Levy%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Henry%20Junjo%20Lawes%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Johnny%20Osbourne%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Linval%20Thompson%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Massive%20Attack%20V%20Mad%20Professor%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Roots%20Radics%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Scientist%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Revolutionary%20Sounds%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Scientist%20%26%20Prince%20Jammy%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Scientist%20Vs.%20Prince%20Jammy%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Sly%20%26%20The%20Revolutionaries%20With%20Jah%20Thomas%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Toyan%22" target="_blank"><strong>Scientist</strong></a> and <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=Jammy" target="_blank"><strong>Jammy's</strong></a> are at the controls, I want them so zooted that they forget the difference between <em>Star Wars</em>, <em>Star Tre</em>k and <strong>Star Jones</strong>, and that’s exactly what we get on this session versioned by two of the greatest to ever do it with track titles referencing the aforementioned franchises plus <em>Buck Rogers</em> and <em>Mission Impossible</em>, because why not. You’ll recognize the riddim from <strong>Freddie McGregor</strong>’s “Big Ship” on opening track “Storming The Death Star” (see what they did there); other highlights include “The Alien Aborts” (Freddie’s “Roots Man Skanking”), “The Princess Takes Her Revenge” (<strong>Wayne Wade</strong>’s “Round The World) and “C-3PO + R2D2 = The Force” (<strong>Barrington Levy</strong>’s “Rob And Gone”). <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=Lincoln+Style+Scott" target="_blank"><strong>Style Scott</strong></a> drums just don’t get any deadlier than they are on “Buck Rogers In The Black Hole” (<strong>Linval Thompson</strong>'s “You're Young”).
