Roy Ayers Ubiquity: He's Coming (Verve Vault 180g) Vinyl LP - PRE-ORDER
$27.95
<p><i>Roy Ayers records can be disappointing after hearing him hyped to all hell in the digging arena,</i> records on the wall and all that, but "We Live in Brooklyn Baby" really lives up to the hype. It's got the unique <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=Roy+Ayers" target="_blank"><strong>Roy Ayers</strong></a> sound and stays on the level soul vibe all the way through, instead of breaking down into a disco flow or something else that makes you remove needles with quickness. Yes, this is the one <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=Digable+Planets" target="_blank"><strong>Digable Planets</strong></a> used this for "Borough Check," and it sets the sound for that whole <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?&q=blowout%20comb&filter=Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Digable%20Planets%22" target="_blank"><em>Blowout Comb</em></a> LP. There’s three other cuts from the <em>He’s Coming</em> album; “Fire Weaver,” “Ain’t Got Time” (<a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=J+Dilla" target="_blank"><strong>Dilla</strong></a> sample) and “He’s A Superstar Pt. 1” (touched by <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?&q=Dj%20Shadow&filter=Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Cut%20Chemist%20%26%20Dj%20Shadow%22%20OR%20Brand/Manufacturer/Artist_fq:%22Dj%20Shadow%22" target="_blank"><strong>Shadow</strong></a>, <a rel="noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.turntablelab.com/search?type=product&q=Dj+Sprinkles" target="_blank"><strong>Sprinkles</strong></a> and <strong>Dilla</strong> again); all solid vibraphone-laced jazz-funk, but ”We Live in Brooklyn" alone makes the original LP worth it.</p> <ul> <li>180g black vinyl pressing (<span style="text-decoration: underline;">please note</span>: actual pressing color and packaging may differ from mock-up photo)</li> <li>remastered from the original analog tapes</li> <li>gatefold sleeve</li> <li>original release year: 1972</li> <li>music label: Polydor 2026</li> </ul> <h6>reviewed by the mgmnt 10/2005</h6> <!---PREORDER START---> <div class="preorder-module"> <h2 class="preorder"><a name="preorderpolicy">Pre-Order Policy</a></h2> <ul> <li>If you want to order additional items (<b>including other pre-orders</b>), please make separate orders.
