A shoe with roots in northeastern summer dressing, built to move well beyond the dock.<br> <br> Flex Goodyear welted construction, uncommon in the category, and the quiet reason it will outlast the season it was bought for. The upper is Repello suede from C.F. Stead in a soft taupe — a tightly tanned, water-repellent suede with the density to hold its shape and the nap to age gracefully. Inside, horsehide linings — hard-wearing in a way few linings still are. Brass hardware throughout, and laces cut from veg-tan leather.<br> <br> Built on the SWAY last — generous through the vamp, easy from the first wear — and finished on a new City latex sole in taupe, quieter than the usual white and easier to pair with the rest of the wardrobe.</p><p></p>
